My heart is full ......

Being a parent is, without question, one of the hardest jobs in the world. There are no days off, no vacations, and it’s never really about you—it’s always about them. You don’t get paid, but the reward is something far greater. It’s a calling, a blessing, and a privilege given by God, and it should never be taken for granted.
I became a mother at 17. It was a choice I made, and from the moment I held my son, I knew life had changed—I came last. My children came first, and so did my siblings. That’s been my rhythm since I was a teenager, and it’s shaped everything I am today.
This morning, on the drive to school, I asked my kids a simple but powerful question: “Who would you want to be like? And who wouldn’t you want to be like?” I asked because I want them to understand the difference between character and chaos, between someone who inspires and someone who’s lost their way. Korbin gave thoughtful answers—one ballplayer he admires for his work ethic and integrity, and another he never wants to be like because of his choices involving drugs and abuse. That awareness made me so proud. He’s paying attention.
Then I asked Elsie, “Who do you want to be like?” And her answer brought tears to my eyes. She looked at me and said, “Mom, I want to be like you.” She told me she sees my strength, how I’ve overcome hard times, how I help others and take care of our needs along with your family's needs, you're always there for all of us.
She sees that even when I get upset, I apologize and try again. She sees the athlete in me, the Ironman who keeps going even when hurt. She sees that I turn negatives into positives and use every struggle as a way to lift someone else up. She says I want to be like that.
And that moment? It filled my heart in a way I can’t describe. Because as parents, we hope—we hope—that we’re leading our kids in the right direction. That we’re giving them something to believe in, someone to look up to. It’s not to say their dad doesn’t do the same—he absolutely does, and they love and admire him deeply. But when your child looks at you and says, “I want to be like you,” it confirms that maybe, just maybe, you’re doing something right.
Sometimes I question myself—as I/we carry the weight of everyone else, try to stay strong, stay positive, keep giving, even when we feel like we’re running on empty. But moments like this remind me that God sees all. He works through the quiet, through the chaos, and through our kids.
I’ve loved being a mother since I was 17. I’ve loved helping raise my siblings since I was 18. And today, I’m grateful. I’m proud as my heart is full.
I pray that if you're reading this you will also have that feeling someday too!!

I send messages to Korbin every morning today was "Belief comes before ability- because the mind must go there before the body follows" Love you buddy...

Love every day!

With a Grateful Heart

God has truly blessed me with one of the greatest gifts I could ever receive — the gift of being a mom. There’s nothing more sacred, more rewarding, or more humbling than getting to watch my children grow, learn, and do the things they love.

As they get older, I find myself holding onto every moment a little tighter — because I don’t want to miss a thing.

Watching Elsie at her last track meet with Aquinas brought so much joy to my heart. The laughter she shared with her friends, the light in her eyes — it was priceless.

Then yesterday, seeing Korbin on the mound pitching and later hitting a triple — it left me in awe. As he begins to grow into his place at Central High, I pray it continues to shape him, strengthen him, and reveal even more of the amazing athlete and young man he’s becoming.

Being a mom isn’t always easy, but it is always worth it. And I am so incredibly blessed to have the opportunity to walk this journey with them — cheering them on, lifting them up, and loving them every step of the way.

Thank you, God, for trusting me with their hearts. I’m forever grateful.

Stronger every day, every mile

Kicking off the week with a Pilates session and logging 5,000 steps—the most I’ve had in quite a while!

Tuesday started strong with TRX at the Y, I had to share this fun moment: the photo below captures one of our athletes mid–“30-second recovery” after realizing TRX isn’t as easy as it looks!
Followed it up with strength class and a peaceful 1-mile walk in the sun, capped off by a Mother’s Day bike ride with my son, Landen. Even with my knee flaring up, I couldn’t miss the chance to share that unforgettable time with him. Absolutely worth it.

his 30 sec. recovery! Toooooo Funny

After all the morning fun I had to put my leg up for 60 min. holy schnikes, my knee didn't like me however, movement is medicine

Looking Ahead: A Week of Movement, Mindset, and Self-Care

This upcoming week, I’m resetting with intention—creating a plan for both nutrition and weight training that supports recovery, not regression. I’ve been moving a bit better lately, but I’m still far from where I was just a few weeks ago. And after someone said to me, “Danni, you better watch yourself—you’re going to put on weight like I did after my injury,” I knew I had to dig deep and stay the course.
Let me be clear: I’m not going down that road. I have a 50-miler on the calendar, and my focus is on healing smart, staying strong, and keeping my goals in sight. I don’t want to find myself asking, “How do I get this weight off?” when I can stay consistent and mindful now.
Here’s the plan for the week:
Monday – Pilates
Tuesday – TRX + Weight Training
Wednesday – Pilates
Thursday – TRX + Weight Training
Friday – Pilates + TRX
Saturday – Weight Training
Sunday – Active recovery or full rest depending on how I’m feeling
Steps? Honestly, we’re sitting around 2,000–3,000 a day right now. That’s hard to admit—but healing comes first. It’s crazy to be this limited, but I’m honoring where I am.
My mantra this week:
Just keep moving. Just keep moving.
Because movement is medicine—not just for your body, but for your mind too.

What KT tape are you kidding me?

This week has been incredibly challenging. Not being able to do what I’m used to—especially due to my knee—has been both physically and "emotionally" frustrating. Climbing stairs is nearly impossible, and I’m constantly having to elevate my leg and apply ice every few hours. I’ve also been using ibuprofen to help manage the swelling and discomfort.
What’s been especially discouraging is how quickly things can change—my knee can appear almost normal in the morning, because it's elevated all night, only to become swollen like a balloon just a few hours later.
During a conversation with my Aunt Ramona, she mentioned trying KT Tape. I’ll admit, I was skeptical. I’ve seen it used by Ironman athletes, running, swimming athletes and thought it was more hype than help. But after using it myself, I’m genuinely amazed. The difference is significant. I’ve even been able to sleep with it on, and it’s provided real relief.
I’m hopeful and optimistic as I head to my doctor’s appointment tomorrow—this has been a humbling reminder of the importance of rest, recovery, and finding the right support tools along the way. Don't rush anything, things will come in time a tough reminder.

Just keep moving!

A beautiful reminder: movement is truly medicine—no matter the form it takes. Even while working through this injury, I’m reminded of how essential it is to keep moving. Movement supports not only physical healing but also mental clarity, emotional balance, and overall well-being. I’m incredibly grateful for the ability to move, adapt, and stay connected to my health—one step at a time.

UGH!

Knee Update:
Today I went in to see the doctor after feeling major pain following my 13.22-mile run yesterday. The verdict? Bursitis and a Grade 2 MCL strain. I knew something was off right after the run, and unfortunately, I was right.

The current plan: leg elevated, alternating ice, and ibuprofen to reduce inflammation. I’m allowed to teach my classes but not participate—so no cycling, no running, no jumping. Just slow and steady. I taught Pilates this morning, and let’s just say—it wasn’t pretty, but I gave it my all.

I’ll be heading back in next Monday to reevaluate. If the swelling hasn’t improved, we’ll dig a little deeper to rule out anything more serious.

Honestly, this is probably my body’s way of saying, “Enough already!”—after pushing through 12+ classes a week, running marathons on a treadmill, and never really taking time off. So now it’s time to recover smart, listen to my body, and come back stronger.

Resting isn’t exactly in my DNA—but healing is the priority right now.

Just keep positive!

Starting week 3/18

 NOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Well, I went out for what was supposed to be an easy training run and unfortunately came back with significant knee pain. It’s swollen quite badly, and despite trying to rest, elevate it, and taking ibuprofen, the discomfort hasn’t improved. I’ve had to cancel most of my classes for Monday (keeping Pilates) and will be setting up a doctor's appointment ASAP, I’m truly hoping it’s nothing serious.

The positive about this is the new shoes felt great, and it felt great not running on the tready!

Plan for the week I will let you know later today!

Starting Week 2 of 18: Finding Strength in Every Step

As I head into week two of my 18-week training cycle, the excitement is building.
Here’s a look at this week’s plan:
• Monday: 3-mile run, cycling, and Pilates
• Tuesday: TRX and strength training (I tried to keep it light… but let’s be honest, I like to make sure the classes are solid. Now my legs are on fire!) Followed by a 5-mile run.
• Wednesday: 5-mile tempo run — I’m really looking forward to pushing the pace a little. Plus, Pilates afterward to help with recovery.
• Thursday: TRX class with no running scheduled. It’ll be a much-needed rest day.
• Friday: An easy 5-mile run.
• Saturday: An easy 3-mile run.
• Sunday: My program calls for a 10-mile run… although there may be a half marathon happening that I could accidentally fall into. We’ll see!
Yesterday, I drove up MM to see if I could spot any mommy bears and their cubs. No luck yet — but honestly, they’re not going to be standing along the trail waving like spectators at a running race! "LOL"
Still, getting out in nature is always worth it.

Running and Writing: A Journey Beyond Miles
Something magical happens when you run — your mind opens up. You start thinking about life in ways you don’t when you’re standing still. I don’t know if I’ve shared this yet, but I’ve been writing a book. Not necessarily for publishing however, maybe — but as a way to document the journey I’ve lived.
I’m writing about growing up in a tough, unstable home, becoming a mother at 17, finishing high school, marrying young, going through a divorce, and stepping into the role of caregiver for all four of my siblings. I want to create something for anyone who’s walking a similar path — something that reminds them that life exists through the struggles, and there is hope on the other side.
Running gives, me the space to process these memories and accomplishments — to think about how far we’ve all come, and how resilience is built one choice at a time. I’ll be sharing more about this project as I continue.
⸻
Which leads me into thinking about something I have been doing in my classes, and my clients I also want to share with you it's the "One Goal a Day Challenge"
I believe every day needs a goal, no matter how small. For me "Every Morning," I challenge myself to say one positive message — either to myself or by posting something uplifting on my Facebook page. It’s a simple habit, but it sets the tone for the day, and when I post it on Facebook or any other social media platform, I hope it helps others too.
One positive thought.
One small step.
One little win every day.
That’s how you build a life you’re proud of one goal at a time!

Sunshine!

Finishing up the week with a 10 mile tready run!!

Sometimes you just have to adapt and keep moving forward!
I had to knock out my 10 miles on the treadmill today because… get this… the neighbors said they saw a BEAR with her babies nearby!
No way was I risking that — so it was me, Matt W with Peloton, the dreadmill, and a whole lotta sweat!
Wowza, holy sweat session!!
Not the long run I planned, but the long run I earned.
Sometimes you just have to pivot, lace up, show up, and JUST. KEEP. GOING.

Sometimes I need reminders too!

May is almost here.
Four months — over 100 days — have already flown by.
Time moved whether you chased your goals or stood still.

Take a moment.
Look back, but don’t stay there.
The truth is: you can’t change the past — but you can take full control of what’s ahead.

Here’s the best part:
You get another chance.
Another four months “plus” to decide who you want to become, how hard you’re willing to push, and how high you’re ready to reach.

So here’s the challenge:
No more “what if.”
This time, ask yourself: “What happens if I give it absolutely everything?”

No halfway.
No holding back.
No waiting for the “perfect moment” — the moment is now.

Let’s lock in.
Let’s lean into the hard days, celebrate the small wins, and build momentum like never before.

By August, you won’t just be proud — you’ll be unrecognizable in the best possible way.

I’m with you. Let’s Go Sunshine!

Wednesday, April 23, 2025

Kicked off the day with TRX at 5:15, rolled right into strength training at 6:15, then hit the pavement for a sunny 5-mile run! Thankfully, teaching these classes for a while means I’m not walking around like a sore noodle! Treated today’s run more like a recovery cruise—kept it chill at a 10:30 pace and just enjoyed being out there.
Let’s go, Tuesday!

Let's get after it!

The Journey Begins: 16 Weeks to the Marathon, Then On to the 50 Miles

My training plan is officially underway—and I’ve made a few strategic changes. I’ve decided to break it into two phases: a 16-week marathon training block followed by the final build into my first 50-mile ultra. This approach gives me a solid foundation before diving into the longer, more demanding distances.
Week one, I’m feeling excited about the structure ahead. Here’s how my weekly schedule is shaping up for my fitness classes:
• Monday: Pilates + Cycling + Water Class + Water Class
• Tuesday: TRX Training + Group Strength
• Wednesday: Pilates
• Thursday: Group Strength + TRX + Cycling
• Friday: Pilates + TRX
• Saturday & Sunday: Long runs (since I don’t teach on weekends)

This week running schedule is

• Monday: 0
• Tuesday: 5
• Wednesday: 5
• Thursday: 0
• Friday: 5
• Saturday & Sunday: Long run 9
Nutrition and recovery will play a big role in how this all unfolds, so I’ll be sharing more about what I’m using to fuel my training soon.
Thanks for following along—I’m thrilled to have you join me on this journey toward my first 50-miler. Let’s see where this road takes us!

I'll post every day to tell ya how it went
Monday's Fun! Felt great Nutrition for my cycling was
