Always be aware!

So this was a little scary, and I’ll admit that 100%.
I was out doing a short run today, and on my way back I noticed a vehicle slow way down near me. The driver looked directly at me, and immediately I got that feeling — you know the one where something just doesn’t feel right.
I picked up my pace and headed toward my car, which thankfully wasn’t far away. As I got there, I remember thinking, “Thank goodness.” It definitely felt unsettling.
I got into my car and made a quick little video about how hot it was during the run, but as I started driving down the hill, I noticed that same vehicle pulled over in a ditch area. There really wasn’t a place to simply pull over there, so this person would’ve had to turn around and face the direction I would’ve been running. It honestly felt like they may have been waiting for me, not realizing my car had been parked at the top of the hill.
As I drove down, I noticed the trunk was open, almost like they were standing there waiting for something. The second he saw me coming in my car, he suddenly acted like he was taking a selfie.
Of course, I turned around and tried to go back to get a picture, but my phone had overheated and wouldn’t cooperate. He definitely saw me looking directly at him.
When I turned around again to head home, he was sitting inside his vehicle watching as I drove by. I still couldn’t get a picture and eventually headed home.
Once I got there, I called my husband and told him what happened. We drove back to see if maybe he had dumped something off the side of the road where he was parked. Strangely, there was nothing there — but there were footprints and marks where it looked like someone had been pacing.
Moral of the story: always be aware of your surroundings. I wish I would’ve gotten a license plate number. I wish my phone hadn’t overheated so I could’ve taken a picture.
Trust your instincts. Stay aware. Pay attention. That feeling exists for a reason
